On Friday night, May 12, Lewisboro residents Sandeep and Binitha Prabhu along with their nine-year-old son, Avinash, a student at Increase Miller Elementary School, lost their house and belongings in a blaze.

The fire destroyed everything that the family owned, including personal belongings, furniture, and other essential items.

Now, in the days since the fire, a GoFundMe fundraiser page has been started for the family to help raise money for them to rebuild.

The fundraiser, started by family friend Rinku Singh, seeks to help them "get back on their feet and start rebuilding their lives," Singh wrote.

According to Singh, the family is "loveable" and is well-known for helping people, as Sandeep is a physical therapist who volunteered throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and "helped the community immensely."

The family is also receiving support from the Increase Miller Elementary PTO, which offered words of support on social media.

"The family needs our support during this unimaginable time," the organization wrote.

As of Monday afternoon, May 15, the fundraiser had already raised over $25,000 out of a $50,000 goal.

In response to the outpouring of support, the family released a statement thanking everyone for their donations and kind words.

"Losing our house and everything we owned was an overwhelming experience," Sandeep and Binitha wrote, adding, "The support we received from the community has truly been a source of strength and comfort."

"Your compassion has inspired us to pay it forward and make a positive impact on the lives of others. We are determined to give back to the community that has supported us so selflessly, and we will strive to pass the torch of love and support to those in need," the family continued in their statement.
